Got Grit? 5K a Big Success!
July 2010 Grit Bits
On May 8th over 350 runners participated in the first annual Got Grit? 5K & One Mile Fun Run/Walk. The event was held at Ebenezer North Campus. 205 runners competed in the 5k while 150 did the one mile run. Official results can be found at www.bigfootrunning.com . Our goal is to have 500 runners in next year’s race. Profits from the event went for scholarships to help students attend various summer camps. Since this was the first race for us there were many upfront expenses (certifying the course, purchasing a three year supply of medals, etc) so we had a small profit. Next year’s event should be much more profitable. We are already seeking sponsors for next year to help us purchase t-shirts, refreshments, and awards. Please contact me if you are able to help us secure sponsors. Tom Carr: 732-7183.
